In 2020, global travel warnings and restrictions due to the lockdown related to the pandemic had a massive impact on the tourism ecosystem, especially on startups operating in this space.

In December 2020, Empact e.V launched the second edition of their Travel Tech for Good program which was held in East Africa to support the startups throughout the pandemic. Over the course of two weeks, four regional African Travel Tech businesses including Tulavo participated in an intense virtual accelerator program.
